Partner News: ASIS International Boosts Engagement with a Community Upgrade

ASIS International is a global community of security practitioners with 34,000 members, in 150+ countries, from virtually every industry. Their online community, ASIS Connects, is a valued resource and learning hub. Security professionals can share insights, discuss best practises, network, and ultimately strengthen global ties within the security profession (something that benefits citizenry around the world).

They recently upgraded ASIS Connects to Higher Logic Thrive, which they saw as an important investment in their members. “At the end of the day, it’s about the member experience. What do we want that to be? We saw the opportunity to streamline and modernise the member experience with a social-media-like feed, homepage highlights, an RSS feed from our job board, and more,” said Monica Escobar, Senior Manager of Member Engagement.

Building on a Strong Foundation

Updating their community was also an opportunity for ASIS International’s marketing team to generate excitement and reiterate the value of membership. They engaged member “ambassadors” and developed videos and social media posts that celebrated the redesign and the community’s benefits.

Generating Buzz and Buy-In

In less than two weeks, ASIS International received tons of positive feedback from members about the new look and user-friendly navigation. The relaunch inspired new interest and boosted engagement with ASIS Connects. Their members are more aware of and invested in their member benefits than ever.

Staff continue to find new ways to leverage the community. Automation rules help them save time while maintaining a personalised member experience. They use the logged-out homepage to advertise to nonmembers. And they’re even exploring ways to host a speaker/expert directory.

“Staff love it – even those at the very top of the chain of command. But more importantly our members love it, and that’s what matters most.”
