Global Role for Association’s Former CEO

The former CEO of the Financial Planning Association, Dante De Gori, has been named as the new CEO of a global standards board.

He is to be CEO of the Financial Planning Standards Board, the standards-setting body for the global financial planning profession and owner of the Certified Financial Planner certification program outside the United States.

De Gori, who was CEO of the FPA for six years until January 2022, takes over at the FPSB in January 2023 (see: New FPA Chief Announced).

A statement from the FPSB says that De Gori served as chairperson of its Council and Chief Executives Committee from 2018 to 2021. Earlier this year, he joined the organisation as Head of Stakeholder Engagement.

De Gori’s appointment follows an announcement in May 2022 that Noel Maye would step down as FPSB CEO at the end of 2022.

FPSB Board chairperson Garry Muriwai says the board of directors is pleased De Gori will step into the role noting that his “..deep experience in, and passion for, the financial planning profession combined with his exemplary leadership skills were sought-after assets to drive FPSB’s vision and mission forward. We look forward to working with him to advance the global financial planning profession.”

The Value of Financial Planning

De Gori says the value of financial planning and of working with a financial planner “…who has committed to competency and ethical standards, like a CFP professional, is becoming increasingly important with the rise of technology, fin-fluencers, geopolitical conflicts and inflation.”

He adds that the FPSB and the global financial planning community of more than 203,000 CFP professionals “…play an important role in helping people realise the benefits of financial planning. I look forward to continuing my work with the FPSB team and Network to uphold and promote worldwide professional financial planning standards and raise awareness of the value of financial planning.”
