ASORC appoints new CEO

The Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors (ASORC) Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Bernadine Euers as its new Chief Executive Officer. Bernadine replaces Cristina Schwenke, who is farewelled after 9 years in the position.

National President Dr Boris Fedoric commented of the appointment, "we are looking forward to working with Bernadine to implement our strategic objectives, manage the operational functions and continue the promotion of the Rehabilitation Counselling profession."

Bernadine is excited to be appointed to the role and is looking forward to getting to know the ASORC members, working with the ASORC Board and building on the incredible work of parting CEO Cristina Schwenke. Bernadine has extensive experience in Human Resources and Learning and Development, bringing a range of skills to the role including the implementation of programs leading to sustainable change. She has managed ASORC Operations since 2019 and they are looking forward to working closely with her to achieve their strategic objectives.

Cristina Schwenke has led the ASORC team with her extensive expertise, leadership and passion. She has been instrumental in building the reputation of ASORC, maintaining strong professional allies, ensuring the transition to becoming a company limited by guarantee, commencing ASORC’s professional development webinar series, generating submissions and promoting the great work of Rehabilitation Counsellors. She has worked tirelessly for the ASORC community, and the Board appreciates her dedication, professionalism and the outstanding results achieved through the last decade and of her continued support.

Cristina said, "I have absolutely enjoyed my time with ASORC. It’s been a very satisfying gig under the leadership of three different National Presidents – Michael Iacovino, Kelly Alderson and Boris Fedoric, assistance from Council members, Directors, staff, ASORC members, Associations Forum, supportive academics, colleagues at IPM Solutions and many others. The association dance of two steps forward and one step back has resulted in many new initiatives and achievements that belong to us jointly. You are in excellent hands and I wish the current Board and the new CEO Bernadine Euers the very best."
