SPASA Announces Acquisition & Rebranding of Pool & Spa Expo

The Swimming Pool and Spa Association of Australia (SPASA) has announced the purchase and rebranding of the Pool Spa and Outdoor Living Expo (Qld) from Australasian Exhibitions & Events Pty Limited (AEE).

The addition of the Brisbane-based Pool Spa and Outdoor Living Expo to the national suite of consumer-focused exhibitions owned by SPASA - including Adelaide, Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney - marks the industry body’s fourth acquisition in five years,

Commenting on the acquisition, SPASA Chief Executive, Lindsay McGrath stated “this expanded footprint allows us to improve the scale and efficiency of our yearly media investment and expand our reach to more households.

“Our exhibitors and consumer attendees will receive a more coherent and positive experience across our events.

McGrath went on to advise that the management of the Brisbane Expo will continue under Noel Gray and AEE for consistency in the support to the exhibitors, noting “our working relationship with SPASA has been excellent for many years and we see the purchase as a logical step for the industry and will help to further develop the show.

“I would like to thank the board, Lindsay and team for making Vee and I feel welcome and part of the SPASA family.”

The purchase allows for a further announcement of the rebranding of the SPASA suite of consumer expos, from the stand alone ‘Pool, Spa and Outdoor Living Expo’ to being part of a united marketing approach targeting a wider range of consumers.

The ‘Pool & Spa’ brand captures under one roof the Choosing Your Pool & Spa magazine featuring the yearly Awards of Excellence and the Pool & Spa Enhancing Outdoor Living magazine, a new consumer friendly website and expanded social media presence; all promoting the pool and spa lifestyle.

SPASA Chairman Stefan Ossenberg added “this purchase was the next strategic step in expanding SPASA’s service capabilities.

“This is an execution of our published strategy to promote and grow the pool and spa industry. Previous successful mergers and acquisitions such as the SPLASH! magazine and trade expo, PASCAA and Pool +Spa Review have lead to this point where the association can better impact the public and community at large.

"SPASA’s value to members and the wider industry has grown double digits each of the last five years with Lindsay at the helm. SPASA is focused on our purpose delivering a better and happier and healthier community through the 2025 industry growth project. The SPASA staff have shown dedication to continual improvement, enhanced technology capabilities and commitment to leadership and we are excited to see this transformational change take place.”

The Swimming Pool & Spa Association of Australia Ltd and the Pool and Spa Association Ltd New Zealand (SPASA) is the largest peak swimming pool and spa industry body in the southern hemisphere.

SPASA is dedicated to the improvement of the health and happiness of the community through the promotion and growth of the pool, spa and outdoor living industries.
