IPWEA appoints Acting CEO

The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) Board has appointed Ben Balov as Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Institute following the resignation of Robert Fuller from the position. The transition took effect from 30 November, 2018.

Mr Fuller identified his leadership of a recent Australia and New Zealand all-industry delegation to the Smart Cities Expo World Congress in Barcelona as a career highlight, given the opportunities it provided to delegates and IPWEA’s standing on the world stage.

“I am very proud of the many significant changes and achievements that have been implemented during my tenure,” Mr Fuller said.

IPWEA President, Mat Greskie, acknowledged the contribution Mr Fuller made to the organisation during his three-and-a-half years in the role.

“We have had a well-functioning relationship with Robert and he has been at the helm of our Institute during the introduction of notable projects including the Street Lighting and Smart Control Programme and document suite, the Sustainability Conference and the Asset Management Congress.”

“The Board extends its best wishes to Robert for his future endeavours,” Mr Greskie said.

Mr Balov is a long-serving employee of IPWEA and will fulfil the dual roles of Chief Operating Officer and Acting CEO until the IPWEA Board commences a recruitment process in early 2019.

The Board’s selection of Mr Balov as Acting CEO provides continuity for the Institute and will assist in its transition to a permanent appointment.
