New Executive Director at Independent Schools Council of Australia

The Independent Schools Council of Australia (ISCA) has announced Dr Yvonne Luxford as Executive Director. Dr Luxford comes to the role after Mr Bill Daniels retired after more than 14 years of service.

Dr Luxford has extensive experience in senior policy and advocacy roles on the national political scene and comes to ISCA after four years as CEO of Palliative Care Australia.

Warwick Dean, ISCA Chair, said ISCA was pleased with Dr Luxford’s appointment. “Dr Luxford comes to ISCA with an impressive record of achievement in social policy and advocacy,” he said. “ISCA welcomes her appointment and we look forward to her taking up this challenging and important role.”

Dr Luxford holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of New South Wales and previously held senior appointments with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, including as Manager, Policy and Advocacy.

Within her role as Executive Director, Dr Luxford is keen to bring particular attention to the needs of Students with Disabilities and Indigenous students at Independent schools. ISCA represents the interests of the Independent school sector on a national basis, which includes 1,080 schools and almost 600,00 students.
