Australian first menu sets Royal ICC apart

Not only is the Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC) Brisbane’s newest convention centre, but it also offers guests the unique, location centric menu. In an Australian first, Royal ICC is offering guests a menu filled with award-winning produce from some of the nation’s most prestigious food and wine competitions. From Australia’s best steak, lamb, wine, ice cream, cheese, diary, beer and cider, selected produce has been awarded gold, silver or bronze medals at the Royal Queensland Show (EKKA) and Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show (RQDWS) competitions.

The Royal National Agriculture and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA) General Manager Venue Sales and Marketing Sally Pulford said the unique partnership with two iconic Queensland events was what made Royal ICC truly unique.

“The RNA owns and operates the Royal ICC and since 1976 has been staging the Ekka and running food and wine competitions for more than 138 years. The RNA is a proud champion of agriculture and is delighted to be able to showcase the best of the best in the Royal ICC menu,” she said.

Ms Pulford also credited the staff behind the scenes with helping get Royal ICC’s latest venture off the ground.

“Our Executive Chef Sean Cummings, and his team develop relationships with farmers, winemakers and small producers,” she said. “They like to know the story behind their ingredients from paddock to palate, with seasonality, locality and quality the driving forces behind the Royal ICC’s culinary philosophy.”

Since opening in March 2013, Royal ICC has hosted more than 300 events.
