Melbourne shines at 21st Annual World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia

The 21st Annual World Travel Awards Asia & Australasian, this year held in Delhi, India, has named Melbourne as Australasia's Leading Meetings and Conference Destination for the second year. 

The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) also took our Australasia's Leading Meetings and Conference Centre for the third consecutive year. 

Melbourne Convention Bureau's (MCB) chief executive, Karen Bolinger, said the award was testament to MCB's recent success. "[We have] secured some of the world's largest and most prestigious health-related conferences including the 22nd World Diabetes Congress, the World Congress of Cardiology and the 20th International AIDS Conference," Ms Bolinger said. 

MCEC chief executive, Peter King, was also delighted with the outcome. 

"MCEC is one of only a handful of venues in the world capable of delivering conference of this caliber and scale and we are incredibly proud of these achievements which have been recognised with this esteemed award," he said. 

Melbourne and MCEC go on to represent Australasia at the World Travel Awards on November 29, 2014, in Morocco.
