Bicycle Tasmania merges with Bicycle Network

Bicycle Network has welcomed the addition of a Tasmanian contingent, following a merger vote on 18 September. Formerly known as Bicycle Tasmania, the newly re-named Bicycle Network Tasmania has made the jump to improve conditions for Tasmanian riders.

Bicycle Network Tasmania President Di Elliffe was enthusiastic about the merger, especially given the long and supportive relationship the two associations have enjoyed. “Securing an ongoing advocacy position in Launceston will turbocharge our efforts to promote safe space for cycling all over the state,” she said.

Bicycle Network CEO Craig Richards was equally as supportive of the move. “This merger opens up so many new possibilities for us both,” said Mr Richards. “Tasmania has the potential to become a world leader for bike riding.”

Mr Richards was also keen to get as many locals involved as possible to address their particular concerns. “We need to work closely with all Tasmanians- their local knowledge is a vital part of any future plans."
