Woodthorpe resigns from venture capital lobby group
A new CEO has been appointed, watch this space for an update.
Lobby group the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association Ltd (AVCAL) has hired recruiter Heidrick & Struggles to find a new chief executive after current boss Katherine Woodthorpe resigned from the post.
AVCAL chairman John White, also a founding partner at mid-market private equity firm Next Capital, said the body was hopeful of finding a replacement by the end of the year and was looking for someone with relationships on both sides of politics in Canberra.
Mr White was expected to stand down as AVCAL chairman at an annual general meeting in November, but will now stay on as chair for another 12 months to oversee the transition.
He said Ms Woodthorpe had helped the industry body gain relevance in Canberra and in the wider business community during her seven-year tenure as chief executive.
"We have been able to collect objective evidence about the industry in respect to jobs, growth and performance; this has proven our relevance," Mr White told The Australian Financial Review.
"And Katherine brought a personal passion for governance and ESG standards, which has brought local firms up to world-class standards and is helpful for all our investors."
