Self-medication group introduces online induction program
The Australian Self-Medication Industry (ASMI) has launched an interactive online induction course for those working in the consumer health sector.
A first-of-its-kind online resource, it is expected to become an industry standard, ensuring high levels of knowledge, compliance and Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) promotion across the sector.
With five core learning modules, the ASMI Online Inudstry Induction Course will familiarise individuals and teams with healthcare regulations, medicine scheduling and marketing and advertising regulations as well as an understanding of the broader healthcare system, the pharmacy environment and the role of ASMI as the industry's voice.
The course is aimed at professionals working within the consumer healthcare industry in fields such as sales, particularly those dealing with pharmacy staff, regulatory, marketing and communications and customer services.
ASMI is also encouraging advertising, public relations and design agencies that support the industry to take part in the program.
Announcing the new program, ASMI Marketing and Business Development Director, Filomena Maiese said the changing healthcare environment meant it was critical that industry professionals stayed up-to-date with the regulations governing the industry.
"The ASMI Online Induction Course has been designed to deliver a comprehensive overview of the Australian healthare landscape and the marketing and advertising regulations underpinning the industry," said Maiese.
