Rohan Lund appointed NRMA Group CEO

The National Roads & Motorists' Association has today announced the appointment of Rohan Lund as Group CEO, to commence in the role Wednesday 27 January 2016.

Mr Lund will join the NRMA after having worked as the Chief Operating Officer at Foxtel and previous roles with Seven Media including the former CEO of Yahoo7, and Strategy Director at Optus. The position became available after former Group CEO Tony Stuart resigned in May.

Mr Lund will bring a raft of strategic and commercial expertise to the NRMA, which is Australia's largest member-owned organisation providing roadside assistance, car rental, travel and accommodation, car servicing and safer driving services.

He has extensive experience in digital technology and customer service. At Foxtel he oversaw significant positive change, including the roll-out of Foxtel's new package offerings, its entry into Broadband and an overhaul of its installation processes.

Over the last 12 years the NRMA has gone through a period of considerable consolidation and growth, having posted a record operating profit last year of $60 million and maintained strong membership levels of over 2.4 million.

Mr Lund's expertise will be paramount as the NRMA embarks on the next stage of its evolution; as it looks to maximise business opportunities in the shared economy and through massive technological change in the mobility sector through the connected car.

"I am extremely honoured to be the custodian for such an iconic brand and proud legacy," Mr Lund said.

"I want to work for customer driven businesses and no organisation is more passionate about their customers than the NRMA.

"The world is changing at a rapid pace. Nowhere is this more evident than in how we get around. The next few years will see radical change in motoring and travel, and members will inevitably look to the NRMA for leadership and services to meet those changing needs.

"With such a trusted brand and massive member base, I can already see tremendous opportunities for growth and innovation."

NRMA President Kyle Loades said Mr Lund's appointment is well-timed with the NRMA's current three-year strategy coming to an end.

"The NRMA is in a great place to grow and evolve and we are in no doubt that Rohan Lund's leadership will help take us there," Mr Loades said.

"One of Mr Lund's first responsibilities will be to work with the NRMA Board and management to develop a new strategic plan to guide the company over the next five years.

"There is great change and great opportunity ahead for an organisation like the NRMA. Indeed, it has been our ability to change that has ensured our survival over the last 95 years.

“Mr Lund has had extensive experience using innovation to change businesses for the better and we are excited about working with Rohan to achieve the same outcomes for our much-loved Member-owned organisation."

NRMA membership has been in Mr Lund's family his whole driving life. Married with six children and a Director of UNICEF, he is passionate about family and community issues. He also holds a Master of Laws.
