Full-service audiovisual capability is integrated within the venue, ensuring presentations, hybrid streams and large-scale productions run seamlessly. Melbourne-inspired menus showcase the best of Victorian produce, grounding global gatherings in a strong sense of place. 

Positioned on the Yarra River in the heart of the city, MCEC connects directly to hotels, transport and Melbourne’s cultural precinct, combining accessibility with impact. 

That foundation has underpinned some of the most significant gatherings held in Australia. 

Where the World Meets 

In 2014, 14,000 delegates attended the International AIDS Conference, resulting in the Melbourne Declaration and renewed global momentum to end HIV. The Malaria World Congress aligned international leaders around elimination goals that continue to influence policy, and the Congress of Genetics advanced collaboration in genomic medicine. In 2024, more than 11,000 delegates gathered for the Lions International Convention. 

What’s Coming Next 

Looking ahead, MCEC remains a place where the world comes to move ideas forward. From Women Deliver 2026, bringing more than 6,500 advocates together across oceans, movements and generations, to hosting the World Conference on Lung Cancer in 2029, the largest lung cancer congress globally. 

Thirty years on, MCEC continues to evolve with the industry, strengthening its role as the place where Melbourne meets the world.
