Our Cat Herder has released User Groups, a feature that lets associations run their subcommittees in the same portal as the board, at no extra cost.

Most associations run a finance or audit committee alongside the board, and often a working party or two. Each has its own meetings, papers and registers, and each draws on a different mix of people. Until now, giving a subcommittee access to its resources meant inviting each person individually, then doing it all again whenever membership changed.

With User Groups, an administrator creates a group for each subcommittee once and assigns that group to its meetings, agenda items, discussions, decisions, document folders, registers and actions. New committee members are added to the group and receive everything it covers, along with one email listing what they can now see. When someone leaves the committee, removing them from the group takes it all back.

The release follows the recent addition of document version history. Every update to a stored document keeps the previous version on file, so a secretary can pull up, download or restore an earlier version of a policy or paper whenever an audit or a board query requires it.

There are no per-user or per-committee fees, so associations can add subcommittee members without increasing the subscription. Pricing starts at $595 per year (AUD) for organisations under $1 million in revenue, with a 45-day free trial.
