Our Cat Herder has released Registers, a new feature in its board portal software that lets directors and company secretaries manage governance registers inside the same system they use for running board meetings.

Most organisations still keep conflicts of interest, contracts and compliance obligations in spreadsheets or shared drives, disconnected from the meetings where the entries are actually created. Registers moves all of that into the portal.

The feature includes nine pre-built templates: Conflict of Interest, Compliance, Contracts, Delegations, Insurance, Assets, Decisions, Directors and Document Control. Boards can also build their own registers using 15+ column types.

Directors can lodge conflict declarations at any time through a secure self-service form, rather than waiting for the next meeting. Registers also link to meeting types, so a minute-taker can add an entry mid-meeting and it appears automatically in the meeting minutes PDF. Access is controlled at three levels (manager, contributor, viewer), so sensitive registers such as executive remuneration can be restricted to the chair or company secretary. Every entry is timestamped and exportable to PDF or CSV for auditors.
