Laila Ferrier Appointed State Manager for IPWEA South Australia

The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Laila Ferrier as the new State Manager for South Australia, effective 16 June 2025.

Laila brings with her a strong background in marketing, communications, and stakeholder engagement. She previously served as the Marketing and Communications Manager at the South Australian Wine Industry Association. Prior to that, she held contract roles with the Adelaide Hills Council and the South Australian State Emergency Service, gaining valuable experience in the local government and emergency services sectors.

Kathryn Johnson, President of the IPWEA SA Committee, welcomed Laila’s appointment, stating:

“To better support our members in South Australia, we are delighted to have Laila working with us full time. Her extensive experience in events, marketing, and communications will help us deliver even more value to our members.”

IPWEA CEO David Jenkins added:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Laila to the team. Her enthusiasm and professional background will be a real asset as we continue to grow our presence and offerings across South Australia.”

Laila expressed her excitement about joining IPWEA, saying:

“I’m excited to commence this role and look forward to enhancing the member experience and supporting the vital work our members do across the public works sector in South Australia.”

This appointment comes at a pivotal time for IPWEA SA, which has recently transitioned to become a Branch of IPWEA. This strategic move will unlock greater opportunities, enabling access to the full range of IPWEA’s national and international resources and capabilities, ultimately strengthening local service delivery and professional development.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Rita Excell, who has served as the Interim Executive Director of IPWEA SA. As a past President of both IPWEA and IPWEA SA, Rita has provided outstanding leadership and made significant strides during this period of transition. Thanks to her dedication and expertise, she leaves the Branch in a strong and positive position for the future.
