Girl Guides Queensland has announced the appointment of Carmen Jenkinson as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership transition for one of the state’s longest-standing youth development organisations.

Jenkinson commenced in the role in October 2025, bringing with her an extensive background in organisational leadership, community engagement, and governance. A Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and holder of an Executive MBA, she has built a career recognised for strengthening not-for-profit organisations and guiding them through periods of growth and strategic renewal.

Before joining Girl Guides Queensland, Jenkinson served in a range of senior executive positions, including within community-focused and member-based organisations. Her reputation centres on building strong stakeholder partnerships, enhancing operational effectiveness, and championing programs that empower young people and volunteers—expertise highly aligned with the mission of Girl Guides.

In her new role, Jenkinson is expected to lead the organisation into its next phase of development, focusing on expanding opportunities for girls and young women across Queensland, strengthening volunteer support, and modernising program delivery to meet the needs of contemporary youth. Her appointment comes at a time when many community organisations are seeking to balance tradition with innovation, and Girl Guides Queensland is no exception.

The organisation acknowledged Jenkinson’s leadership credentials and commitment to community service as key factors in her selection. Her arrival follows a period of organisational renewal, and she is anticipated to work closely with the Board to drive strategic initiatives that reinforce the organisation’s role in building confidence, resilience, and leadership among girls statewide.

Jenkinson expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, noting the long legacy of Guiding in Queensland and the importance of creating inclusive, supportive spaces for young people to grow. As CEO, she will oversee statewide program delivery, member engagement, volunteer development, and partnerships with schools, community groups, and government.
