Significant Workplace Relations Issues Report

Associations Forum would like to share a report with our members that has been produced by the Australian Industry Group for its members to update them on a range of major matters. This June 2024 edition of the Significant Workplace Relations Issues Report provides Ai Group members with an update on a range of major matters, including the following:  

  • The upcoming commencement dates of a raft of provisions in the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes No. 2) Act 2024 (Cth).
  • Major proceedings in the Fair Work Commission, including the Annual Wage Review, the Award Review 2023-24, proceedings to insert a delegates’ rights term and a 'right to disconnect' term into modern awards, as well as other applications to vary modern awards and major cases.
  • Trends in enterprise bargaining.
  • Several government inquiries and proposed or recent legislative developments including in relation to the Net Zero Economy Authority Bill, changes to the Queensland Industrial Relations Act, expansion of portable long service leave in the community services sector, the use of restraints of trade in employment contracts, Australia's human rights framework and workplace drug testing.
  • Updates on regulator activity including by the Fair Work Commission, the Workplace Gender Equality Agency and SafeWork NSW.
