Robert Lucas steps down as CEO of AWCI
After 46 years of work in the workforce, and the last 30 in Industry Associations, Robert Lucas announced that the time has come for him to retire from full-time employment. His last day with the Association of Wall and Ceiling Industries Australia was Friday, September 20th.
He says that along the way, there were highs and lows; however, he has always loved his work and had the pleasure of working with some wonderful, inspirational people. He claims that there are too many people to name who have been supportive and inspiring, though he is grateful for this.
He looks back with a great sense of accomplishment at having been able to lead three associations through transformational journeys that have strengthened their relevance and vibrancy.
Robert attributes success over the last 30 years to his supportive family, not least Wendy, his wife of 44 years. He intends, in retirement, to remain engaged by some freelance advisory work to keep himself occupied.
He reassures all that none should be concerned he will be busy, adding in jest that he can feel the to-do lists forming even as he writes this notice. He concludes with a positive note: "Don't be sad it's over, just be glad it happened."
