Bringing Associations Together To Boost Performance

The Law Society of NSW appoints new CEO

The Council of the Law Society of NSW has approved the appointment of Kenneth Tickle as CEO of Australia’s largest legal profession membership organisation.

Kenneth joined the Law Society in 2006 and has held a number of positions since that time including Chief Financial Officer and a decade as Chief Operating Officer. He has been Acting CEO since October last year.

Mr Tickle’s longevity at the Law Society brings an unequalled depth of corporate knowledge to the role. This offers an enormous advantage as he works with Council, our members and staff to address the challenges and opportunities faced by the profession into the future.

This includes work to advance the establishment of a national legal profession as envisioned by uniform legal profession legislation now in operation in NSW, Victoria and Western Australia. I look forward to working with our new CEO on this important project to bring efficiency and opportunities for growth to the profession across Australia.

When Mr Tickle started with the Law Society, Facebook was only two years old, and the first iPhone had yet to be launched. Since then, the NSW solicitor profession has more than doubled in size to just over 41,000 practitioners.

I am delighted that the Council has expressed its confidence in Mr Tickle’s leadership of the Law Society as it represents members and their views to government and the community, along with its crucial role as a co-regulator of the solicitor profession in NSW. The Council and I congratulate Mr Tickle on his appointment.

Mr Tickle holds a Bachelor of Business, a Master of Professional Accounting, and is a Chartered Accountant. He is also a fellow of CPA Australia, a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and a member of the Governance Institute of Australia.
