Partner News: What’s New in Geelong and The Bellarine in 2023

Geelong and the Bellarine has a raft of sensational new events, services, and experiences. Some of which are expected to launch this year and others are in the pipeline and set to make their debut over the next few years.

The much-awaited Geelong Convention and Exhibition Centre will open in 2026. The Geelong waterfront precinct will feature a 1,000 seat plenary & 3,700sqm of multi-purpose space to accommodate small and large events, as well as a 200-room upscale hotel. The addition of the Geelong Convention and Exhibition centre will enhance Geelong’s position as a premier city and an events leader in Victoria by enabling more international events, exhibitors, and attendees.

Expected to open in mid 2023, The Holiday Inn Geelong will bring a 190 room hotel experience to the region. Prior to the Geelong Convention and Exhibition Centre opening this will be the largest hotel located in Geelong and the Bellarine. The hotel itself will also feature an all-day dining restaurant and bar, swimming pool, gym, parking and a 300 square metres of meeting facilities including an event centre that can accommodate up to 250 people.

This year the Geelong Arts Centre will transform into Australia’s largest regional arts centre. It will feature multiple venues/spaces, 3 world-class theatres with the capacity to seat 1400, an outdoor atrium and dining/ function options aplenty. Geelong Arts Centre will be the pinnacle of the regions creative achievements and will attract visitors from across Australia.

GMBHA Stadium is undergoing an extension which is due to launch mid-2023. The extension incorporates a 300 seat banquet/conference facility and fully-equipped media centre. This is in addition to its already existing conference and event spaces which combined can accommodate up to 2,450.
