Daniel Weizman appointed CEO of NSW greyhound racing industry association

The NSW Greyhound Breeders, Owners, and Trainers Association (GBOTA) has announced that they have appointed Daniel Weizman as the CEO of the organisation.

Weizman has been serving as CEO since June 2023 and brings a wealth of experience to the role.

He has worked in sectors including business, hospitality, law enforcement, industrial relations, and community service.

The GBOTA board approved Weizman's appointment on February 2, and on February 5 he officially assumed the position.

With a passion for greyhound racing, Weizman is dedicated to representing the industry's interests and ensuring its growth and success.

“I'm thrilled to continue working towards securing a future for greyhound racing in NSW,” expressed Weizman.

“I'm always available to listen to the industry's needs and concerns.

“Together we can accomplish things.”

Weizman's top priorities include ensuring treatment and welfare for greyhounds.

He will also address matters such as determining the future of Wentworth Park after its lease expires in 2027 and overseeing the development of the Orange Central West Centre of Excellence.

“Wentworth Park holds a special place in the NSW greyhound racing community, and it is crucial for us to maintain its significance,” emphasised Weizman.

“While we are dedicated to opening up the site for community use, we also want to preserve greyhound racing at this venue.”

Weizman also highlighted a project aimed at reintroducing greyhound racing to the Central West region of the state.

The $15 million greyhound Centre of Excellence in Orange seeks to bring jobs and investments to the area, with an expected boost of $20 million to the local economy.

Aside from modernising the association, Weizman is focused on attracting individuals and women to join the industry.

“It's vital that we have a generation prepared to carry on and nurture this sector,” he stated.
