Driving Growth and Change: Industry Leaders Unite at Association Leaders Symposium 2024

Associations Forum proudly hosted the successful Association Leaders Symposium at the International Convention Centre Sydney on Tuesday, 22 October 2024 with a large gathering of industry professionals and association leaders from around Australia.

Keynote speaker Paul Zahra from the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) shared insightful observations on driving change, the significance of a value proposition and the transformation of Australia’s peak retail association including the proposed merger of ARA and the National Retail Association. CEO's Ryan Winn, Science and Technology Australia and Luke Achterstraat, Council of Small Business Organisations Australia explored the abundance of Australia’s natural resources and drew emphasis to the need of translating business ideas into actionable plans and commercialising them for national growth.

In addition, John Palermo, Board Chair, Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand discussed the intricacies of advocacy and the importance of leaders ‘picking their battles’ and being accountable for their actions. Dr. Lara Roeske, Board Chair, Royal Australian College of General Practitioners ended the day by highlighting "Be Clear About What Matters" the need to clarify focus and mission for enhancing board culture, aligning the organisation, and strengthening member connections.

Delegates had the opportunity to expand their networks and build valuable connections with fellow association professionals and a diverse group of sponsors, each catering to specific industry needs. Associations Forum was proud to foster a collaborative environment where attendees could enhance their leadership skills and gain practical insights to improve the performance of their associations.
