Associations Forum connects top leaders at Association Leaders Symposium 2023
Associations Forum was pleased to host the 2023 Association Leaders Symposium at the newly opened Western Sydney Conference Centre on Wednesday, 11 October 2023. The interactive symposium tailored content and discussions to the needs of association leaders and decision-makers across the whole not-for-profit sector.
Inspired by the emerging, productive landscape of Western Sydney, Association CEOs, Chairs, Presidents and senior leaders met to discuss the intricacies of effective Board and CEO relations, successful strategic planning and how to boost association performance in modern times.
The symposium featured multiple educational, collaborative sessions, centred around the perennial issues encountered by association leaders. James Holloway, Deputy Head, Reserve Bank of Australia detailed current and future economic conditions, Jennifer Moltisanti, Assistant Commissioner, NFP Centre, Australian Taxation Office revealed further NFP developments in taxation, Troy Bramston, The Australian, gave an overview of the current political climate, and Megan Motto, CEO, Governance Institute of Australia provided observations of association leadership of the past 20 years.
For the first time, interactive workshops by Associations Forum’s key leaders were hosted the day prior and framed a deep dive into various essential topics. ‘Association Leadership Dynamics’ unpacked the role of CEOs and the Board, while ‘Leading Membership Strategies’ focused on sticky membership and moving from benefits to value when communicating with members.
Networking functions gave delegates the opportunity to build connections with their association peers and a diverse range of sponsors, who each work to address specific sectoral needs, were represented. Associations Forum relished the opportunity to provide a collegiate environment for association professionals to learn about leadership and take away skills to boost the performance of their association.
