Whilst growth is positive and with no signs of slowing, once again we are experiencing a shortage in quality candidates, despite the impacts to employment to the market in 2020.

Known as a “candidate short market”, this is where the quality of high performers at this moment in time are in short supply. This tends to be because the high performers are already engaged and employed.

This highlights the need for Employers to:

• Broaden the scope of the ‘ideal’ candidate, and more closely consider transferable skills when recruiting. What area outside of the industry can you glean excellent talent from?  Are you willing to invest in a junior that lacks skills but shows promise?
  
  
• Review your employee value proposition (EVP). What differentiates your organisation from others? What benefits do you offer your employees? How are you showcasing these qualities for jobseekers to see? Why do you enjoy working for your company?
• Check in with your current people. How are they feeling? Are they still engaged? What do they value about the organisation? What do they find meaningful about their work with your organisation?
