Partner News: ICC Sydney offers EventSafe operating solutions for event organisers

International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) has recently launched the ICC Sydney EventSafe Operating Framework, an industry leading set of operating principles that will enable the venue to safely run events in an environment transformed by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The launch signals the readiness of Australia’s premier convention, exhibition and entertainment centre to recommence running face-to-face events, in line with the further roll back of Federal and State restrictions.

The comprehensive set of protocols spans key areas of event management, including the customer journey, environmental hygiene, food service, technology and equipment, employees and public awareness, and covers meetings, conferences, exhibitions, live events and internal operations.

It integrates best practice from parent group ASM Global’s VenueShield – a program of the most advanced hygienic safeguards. The framework further operates within Safe Work Australia’s Codes of Practice, which underpin how ICC Sydney works under the Work Health Safety laws and, more recently, the COVID-19 Safe Workplace Principles.

The plan draws on ICC Sydney’s work with national and international industry bodies, including the Business Events Council of Australia, to develop industrywide protocols in response to COVID-19. These have evolved into a venue specific framework, which responds to the need of clients that will allow them to confidently start planning future events.

As the global situation has shifted since March this year so has ICC Sydney’s response. To enable organisers to continue to meet and engage with their members, stakeholders and clients, ICC Sydney’s team of event management and AV professionals successfully developed a Virtual Events service, to continue to deliver world class events. This has now evolved into a hybrid events solution, combining both digital and face to face elements.

As government restrictions begin to ease, ICC Sydney’s team will work together with associations to plan extraordinary events – whether virtual, in person or a hybrid of the two – based on their specific requirements.
