Stepping into a new role in the middle of a global pandemic that has crippled the association and business events sector might not seem like the smartest of career moves on the surface. Yet to me, it’s the perfect time! Why? - Because International Associations across our region are in a desperate fight for survival. When your whole business model is under threat, there is only one way forward - to innovate and deliver.
These values are at the core of everything CIMGlobal stands for. I am privileged to have the backing of our multi-cultural teams from six countries, and collectively we will find new ways to support our Associations through this crisis and help them emerge stronger and better armed, with exciting new ways to assist their members.

We have taken the bold step of bringing forward our planned expansion into Australasia and last month opened a new office in the Adelaide technology Innovation hub.
All Governments in our region have never been more receptive to proposals that will keep people in jobs and stimulate economic growth. The structure of professional industry associations and their collaborative approach makes them ideally placed to manage these programs on behalf of government. All they need is a good proposal. We have hit the ground running here in Australia and are already assisting a number of clients with accessing funding to continue to develop new innovative events and programs.

The COVID-19 outbreak has forced a massive shift in the way associations operate. Our meetings are cancelled, our staff are working virtually and our future has suddenly become uncertain.
When the first border closures began, CIMGlobal offices in Europe, America, Singapore and India were inundated with calls from worried association clients. In less than a month, the 2020 event calendar was history.
Yet while the world continues to almost stand still, I am certain your association has never been busier. Members lean heavily and look to their association as their pillar of strength in times of crisis. This calls for even wider collaboration and outreach.
