New President for DAA

The Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) has announced Tara Diversi as the President and Chair of the DAA Board. Following a two-year term as a DAA Director, Ms Diversi returns to the Board, to continue governance, management and strategic direction of the organisation.

Practising as a dietitian for 16 years, Ms Diversi brings with her a wealth of experience within the private sector, academia, nutrition communication, policy and governance. Her contribution to the profession has also stemmed from a range of volunteer roles, including being a previous DAA Media Spokesperson and convenor of Dietitians in Private Sector Interest Group.

“It’s a privilege to represent over 7500 members working in a variety of practice areas, from clinical to industry, private practice and research – all with a common goal to build healthier communities. I look forward to empowering our members and raising the profile of our profession as the leading voice in nutrition and dietetics,” said Diversi.

Ms Diversi currently undertakes several roles, including being the National Dietetic Adviser for the Department of Veteran Affairs, Entrepreneurship Facilitator within the Department of Jobs and Small Business and supports athletes as an Advanced Sports Dietitian.

“Poor nutrition is now the global lead contributor to the burden of disease. As a nation we need to be proactive about health prevention and a national approach to nutrition is imperative. Advocating for a new National Nutrition Policy is a key focus, as all Australians should have access to safe, affordable and nutritious food and need to be able to make informed food choices for their health.”

DAA thanks the immediate past-president Phil Juffs, for his commitment and leadership across his 2-year term as President, and valuable contributions as a DAA Board Director since 2012.

Ms Diversi will be supported as President, by Melissa Armstrong elected as Vice President and Damien Angus as Director of Finance.
