The Association Specialists expands into Asia Pacific with new Singapore office
Australian Association Management Company The Association Specialists (TAS) has launched its first international office in Singapore. Aiming to provide best practice skills and services to the Asia-Pacific Association sector, the expansion follows a rapid period of growth for TAS and an increased demand for Association Management in the region.
Confirming the development, TAS Managing Director Francis Child noted the increased number of inquiries had confirmed his belief that there is a need for the services provided by TAS.
“With over 7,000[1] registered societies in the region we believe there is a current lack of experienced and professional operators similar to TAS,” says Mr Child.
The Asia Pacific operation will be overseen by local Singaporean and newly appointed CEO Chua Buck Cheng who will work closely with Mr Child and the extended TAS team.
Mr Chua joins TAS as CEO Asia-Pacific from Singapore Exhibition Services where he held the role of Project Director, Engineering Events before which he held the role of Director of Operations and Business Development.
“There is a current push to upgrade skills amongst the working population in Asia Pacific, especially with mid-career PMETs facing higher risks of job displacements due to the emergence of disruptive technologies,” says Mr Chua.
“Associations will therefore play an important role in providing members access to necessary training and accreditation and be a representative industry voice. In Singapore, the government recognises this and has urged associations to be professionally managed in order to provide this support and service to members,” continues Mr Chua.
TAS have been providing Association Management and Event Management services to Australia and New Zealand clients for more than 20 years. Formerly known as the Australian Professional Centre, TAS delivers a raft of services to more than 40 Associations, including general secretariat, membership management, financial management, meeting management and more.
“I am confident that with our extensive industry knowledge and Buck’s specialised Asia Pacific expertise, combined with our joint enthusiasm for the not-for-profit sector, we are in a strong position to provide the same level of service as we have done in Australasia for more than 20 years,” adds Mr Child.
