Resignation of CEO of Girl Guides NSW & ACT

The CEO of Girl Guides NSW & ACT has resigned, effective 28 October. The Board announced the resignation in a letter to all interested parties as follows: It is with great regret that the Board of Girl Guides NSW & ACT has accepted the resignation of our CEO, Peta Gillies, effective from 28 October 2016.

Peta has been with the organisation for almost 4 years. During this time, she has transformed the business of Guiding. Through overseeing successful projects and cost-effective strategies, Peta has improved and streamlined our systems, and significantly contributed to ensuring the future success and sustainability of Guiding.

Of note is the way Peta has immersed herself not only in the complex business aspects of Guiding, but also in the Guiding program itself. She has a deep understanding and appreciation of our program for youth and adult members, and is passionate about enabling them to develop their skills in teamwork, resilience and leadership.

Peta has truly been a wonderful ambassador and champion for Guiding in NSW & ACT, and within Girl Guides Australia. She has also been a mentor for our volunteers, and has freely given her time, experience and expertise to help us through our Guiding challenges with great humility, humour and serenity.

Peta leaves us to take up a new challenge in the health sector in Melbourne, where she is also looking forward to being closer to her family. I know you will join me in wishing Peta well in her future endeavours.

While the Board is undertaking the recruitment process to find our new CEO, Steffani McDonagh will fulfil the role of Acting CEO. Steffani commenced with the organisation earlier this year as General Manager, Operations. In this short time, she has quickly come up to speed on the operations of Girl Guides NSW & ACT and I know will continue to work with each of our partners and stakeholders to ensure our ongoing development and success.
