Richard Petty elected to IFAC Board

Richard Petty has been elected to the Board of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). Professor Petty’s election took place during the International Federation of Accountants Council meeting in Rome, November 2014. 

Previously, Professor Petty was Chairman and President of CPA Australia as well as having served on other boards. In his capacity as board member of IFAC, Professor Petty will act as a representative of the accounting academic community.

Based in Hong Kong, Professor Petty is Professor (Accounting and Finance) and Executive Director International at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM). Professor Alex Fino, Dean MGSM congratulated Professor Petty on his appointment.

“Richard has for many years held significant leadership positions in academia and in the accounting profession. His appointment to IFAC continues his work for the accounting profession on a global stage.”

Professor Petty said he was looking forward to his role and was interested in advancing the accounting professions.

“It is a great honour to join the Board of IFAC and to have the opportunity to work with colleagues from around the world who have a common objective in serving IFAC’s members and in strengthening the accounting profession,” he said.
