PETAA Breaks New Ground
The Primary English Teaching Association Australia (PETAA) has announced the launch of an independent, competitive research grant offered to researchers. The successful applicant must collaborate with teachers and students in primary schools.
The annual grant of up to $75,000 will enable researchers to study the efficacy of different educational approaches to teaching English in a primary school setting and must include teachers and schools as research partners. Research must also be conducted and reported in a manner, which is relevant to the PETAA membership and the broader education community.
According to PETAA President, Associate Professor Robyn Cox, PETAA believes it is the first professional association to offer a grant of this scale to fund original research in Australia. The grant is part of PETAA’s new Strategic Plan, which not only aims to bridge theory and classroom practice but also strives to do so in an active and diverse manner.
