Join Candy Choo GAICD, CEO of Local Government Professionals WA, as she shares how trust, clear communication, and team empowerment drive real outcomes. Drawing on her experience leading a member-based organisation through sector reform and workforce challenges, Candy will explore how to keep members engaged and teams aligned when change is constant.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Matthew Monaghan

Candy Choo, Chief Executive Officer, Local Government Professionals WA 

In addition to being a not-crazy cat lady who is also a psychologist, Candy Choo is the Chief Executive Officer of Local Government Professionals WA - the peak body organisation that advocates for and support professionals working in WA Local Government. Since 2017, Candy has transformed the association into an innovative and progressive membership association supporting local government officers through strong advocacy and representation, evidence based research programs and member-centred training and development programs. Prior to this role, Candy was a senior executive at Local Government Insurance Services (LGIS) in WA for seven years overseeing the portfolio of WA local government workers compensation program as well as all associated people risk prevention services.  Candy is the Chair of Patricia Giles Centre for Non-Violence – the Centre is the lead agency in the Northern Corridor of Perth providing crisis care, accommodation and counselling services to women and children experiencing family domestic violence. Candy had the privilege of chairing the Cat Haven WA Board during the challenging time of the pandemic and made sure no cat was left behind! Candy has extensive background in corporate governance, risk management, advocacy and membership not for profit organisations over the past 15 years.
