Damian Long is a qualified Civil Engineer who has been in construction for approximately 30 years, the majority civil construction. He has managed and led organisations with significant turnover and sector diversity in Queensland and Victoria. He is also a registered adjudicator under the Building Industry Fairness Act QLD. This has helped him to communicate a range of industry issues. His background has underpinned his credibility with the industry, members, and stakeholders.
Join us as Damian shares his experience with Advocacy campaigns and being a voice for the industry. He will also elucidate the challenges of running and operations of an industry association which has multiple, “sub businesses”.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Damian Long, Chief Executive Officer, Civil Contractors Federation Queensland Ltd
Damian Long is the current CEO of Civil Contractors Federation Queensland Ltd; and is also a past President, Vice President and Honorary Treasurer. He has over 30 years construction experience in earthworks, road works, structures, residential and industrial subdivision construction, project and business management.
Damian’s career has spanned across a diverse range of industries within Australia from oil, commercial building, infrastructure, commercial civil works, residential and industrial civil works. He brings a wealth of experience in senior management roles in private organisations and dealings with public sectors. Damian has a very strong management, leadership, dispute resolution, change management, commercial management and governance background and brings a sense of teamwork and collaboration at the management team level, providing value to the business and stakeholders.
Damian holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from Latrobe University and is a Queensland Registered Adjudicator under the Building Construction Industry Payment Act (QLD). He currently sits on the boards of QLeave and Construction Skills Queensland. Damian’s current role sees him working with governments of all persuasions, industry stakeholders and CCF QLD members to deliver a more sustainable industry.
